Exterior painting
Weather is the other client on every exterior
North walls hold moisture. South walls bake. On Upper Valley clapboard that matters. We schedule around dry windows, replace failed wood when we find it, and use coatings that belong on New England siding.
What we coat outside
Clapboard, shingle, board-and-batten, window casings, corner boards, and doors on Vermont and New Hampshire houses. Porches and railings when they are part of the same finish schedule. We do not roll over failed paint and call it done.
Prep before the first coat
Scrape, sand, wash, and prime bare wood. Softwashing or powerwashing comes first when Upper Valley siding is carrying algae or chalk. Rotten fascia, sills, and clapboard get replaced before paint goes on.
Where we do this work
We're based in Orford, NH, and we paint homes across the Upper Valley on both sides of the Connecticut River, including Hanover, Lebanon, Lyme, Norwich, Thetford, Hartford, and White River Junction.

How often should I paint the exterior of my house?

In the Upper Valley, most homes need exterior painting every 5 to 7 years, depending on sun exposure and weather. South-facing walls often wear faster than shaded sides.
What happens if you find rotten wood while prepping?

We don't paint over rot. If we find failed fascia, sills, or clapboard, we will notify you, cut it out, and replace it with sound wood before priming and painting.
Do you powerwash the house before painting?

We assess the siding first. Most painted clapboard requires a gentle softwash to remove algae and dirt without driving water behind the boards. We reserve high pressure for surfaces that can handle it.
